Hi Lovely People
We have an appointment on Friday with our urologist, who gave hubby his biopsy.
We have just had a phone call from the hospital saying we now have an appointment with the oncologist tomorrow too.
They would of had the psa results yesterday as we did, down to 12.3 from 598.
Can anybody shed any light on as to why they want to see us so quickly. Is this a good sign or a sign of bad things. I know nobody can say exactly, but this is the first time we will be seeing a oncologist
Thanks Lovely People
Gin
Hi Gin
I would go with as many questions as possible, write them down, things like treatments and when they will start, scans, X-rays, who will be your first point of contact eg specialist nurse. You need all documentation sent to you, appointments what scans reveal etc, I’m not saying they may be important now, but you never know.
stay safe

I presume u are still waiting for biopsy results, has he had a MRI?
PSA obviously quite high originally, presumably hormone therapy has brought that down to it's level now. Biopsy results will tell u more ie aggressiveness of tumour.
They will probably suggest a treatment plan, just a couple of days to go.
Best wishes
Steve
It should be nothing to worry about Septimus.
The prostate gland falls under the Urology department, whereas the treatment of cancer falls under the Oncology department.
I spent most of my time being tested and diagnosed by the Urology team under a consultant and my care has now passed to an Oncology consultant, but Urology still handle the ongoing treatments and contact.
Hi Dingbato….again
Thanks for your reply. After seeing oncologist yesterday and urologist today we now understand their roles on this long journey. We had 2 appointments yesterday and two today.
Gin
it does all calm down Septimus, honestly I am only a little over 2 months post diagnosis and I look back now to those first two weeks and it's a blur of scans, xrays, examinations, blood tests, hospitals and doctors and nurses and treatments.
Once they get the PSA down to a satisfactory level, you should be able to catch your breath.
