Any blood brothers that can advise?

Well, here I am, 7 weeks after brachy seed implants. As I’ve explained, so far I’ve been in really good form. No real side effects that have bothered me. Not feeling fatigued at all, well no more than I would have before the brachy treatment (with a very active lifestyle, which could be compared to Eddie Izard in his marathon mode, but without any makeup and being of definite male and not neutral gender). I have to admit to a little loss of libido, and all that goes with that, but that’s not a massive loss while England keep progressing in the euros! The thing that has happened is bleeding from my Jacksy (in doctor speak, rectum, anus or in Japanese - Ahso). It started as a sputtering around the pan, then more so. It has been proper red, not dark red, and not in the stools. I reported this to the specialist nurse, who said not to worry as it was normal at my stage. She also said to ease back on my gym and running until the bleeding settles down. I had a couple of days of no blood, then it came back. Then it stopped again, so I went for a little run. That turned into a walk involving some blood, as I tripped on a massive stone that was embedded in a verge and it sent me flying head first to the ground. It’s been Sore ribs and not bleeding from my jacksy have meant I’ve been swimming only for the past few days,

So now I’m wondering if anyone has else has had similar bleeding at 7-8 weeks after brachy seed implants and whether I should prepare myself for anything else now?

all the best one and all…

  • Hi,  As I think I may have said before my cancer was found just too late for brachy but my brother had this 2 years ago and didn't have this problem but he did have some urination problems that cleared up with the help of medication.  Having said that if being as active as you helps to bring this on then my brother is as active as a sloth - the total opposite of me - doesn't even do his own gardening and I think his wife usually takes the dogs for a walk too so there you are.  As you have been told this is normal then it must be but if it gets worse ask again it also may be a good idea to check that your iron levels etc are right as you may need iron or other supplements while you go through this.   All the best

  • Thank you for your reply, freefaller. I’ve never thought about something such as iron levels, so I will bare that in mind. It’s easy to put irregularities down to the brachy treatment, when it could be, as you say, something else that is lacking. Thanks again for taking the time for your posting, much appreciated!
