My dad just had his 2nd hormone injection to reduce testosterone.(I think they said it's a hormone injection) Don't know name of injection. He feels unwell 3 days later, is this normal to feel unwell after the injection. The injection goes into his stomach. Anyone know if this is normal?
cheers.
Hi
Sorry your dad not feeling well after his injection. My husband had his first hormone injection (zoladex) last Thursday. He has been fine fingers crossed. Perhaps is affects each man differently. Maybe if you are concerned ring the Urology dept. I know our urology dept are very helpful. Good luck.
ok, thanks for taking your time to reply.
cheers.
In what way is he unwell? Everyone is different so it affects everyone differently. Your Dad is on Hormone Treatment (HT) which basically will give him menopausal symptoms similar to those menopausal women suffer so sometimes you get side effects of hot flushes, weight gain. fatigue and emotional mood swings. Some men are unlucky enough to get all these some have only a few and we tend to get them to a greater or lesser degree. I avoided the mood swings, weight gain and fatigue by continuing to exercise all the way through my treatment which helped the hot flushes for me were not so bad and I only really noticed I had had htem when they started to go away after completion of the treatment. Is your Dad to have radiotherapy or is he just on HT?
Call his GP surgery and make an emergency appointment this morning or call his consultant or key worker at the hospital but you may find it difficult to get in touch with them as easily as you can get him in to see his GP. Try both to see which one you can get help from first.
All you get out of him when asked is, unwell or groggy. When asked further gets mad/angry so im not sure myself. I give up asking him gets very angry. Not helpful I know, doesn't help me either. Also this time he gets very tired more than 1st injection. He starts chemo soon. 5 rounds of radiopherapy on lower spine as an emergency because it would of paralized him apparently. This was done/finished approx. 3/4 weeks ago. Today he's so tired barely staying awake. Asked him again same old story unwell/groggy. I think he's on HT for rest of his life. At rate he's declining not very long. Honestly don't think he will make chemo. if he does I don't think he would survive it. also this time very bad hot flushes.
thanks for replying.
Thanks for replying. yes very tired, hot flushes. just asked him again, now says doesn't feel ill/unwell/groggy. I don't know if he's lying because he knows I have some mental health issues and he just says it to shut me up and stop me panicking. I don't know what I can do. suppose there is nothing I can do. that's the hard part just sit and watch him fade.
thanks for your time much appreciated. (Newb)
Your specialists nurse if you ring will advise you if you are concerned they are very helpful and will find out for you if they don't know
Advanced, high grade prostate that gone into many bones. Incurable just trying to prolong life. I know it's a matter of time just so scared worried it's coming very soon. much sooner than what the docs and co are letting on. No gleason score or any info given just PSA a gigantic score of over 10,000. I know from this we could be talking weeks. I know with rest of family how quick this crap can get you. im struggling to look after him. promised mum day before she passed id look after him she told me to day before she passed. but now it's just me im on meds for depression anxiety etc,etc before any of this. my doc refused to up a certain med im on last week, already on lowest dose been on it for years. my doc should know I have built up a tolerance to it now im struggling so much. im simply losing it now. I could go on and on about the crap were in. but my problems are absolute nothing compared to most of you and my dad, I feel a pratt just mentioning it. but this site is all I have.
cheers Newb
