Hi all

So I have had my biopsy results which came back as 4+3

After talking with my consultant we decided the only way forward was surgery however because I had a gastric bypass back in 2011 and also have massive hernia she's told me the surgery is going to beDisappointed relievedxtremely difficult so I'm now bricking it she said surgery would take place in the next month Disappointed relieved

  • I wholly concur with what has been said about RT when surgery is going to be difficult.  Maybe you should ask to consult with a radiologist before going on with the operation.  How old are you?  Your PSA  score is not as high as mine and gleason score exactly the same.  What are your T scores?  I had RT - was first given the option of surgery but then they saw that the tumour was "bulging" at the back of the prostate so they thought surgery may leave cancer there so told RT was going to be better option. I already had a problem with my bowel and an overactive bladder so in order to avoid any possible side effects from the Rt I had fiducial markers inserted into the prostate to help target the RT more precisely so that there was less, if any collateral damage from the RT and it has worked - only had one night during the RT when I was up nearly all night passing urine and never had any bladder problems.  Remember that a surgeon will generally suggest surgery and a radiologist RT!

2 years post RT and 2 years 2 months post completion of Hormone Therapy and I am back to normal no problems with ED bowel or bladder from the RT and PSA undetectable - so as I was told from the outset - a cure.

Take care and do your research and due dilligence before committing to any form of treatment.
