  • I have just had a major panic. Nurse rang this morning and husbands PSA which has been undetected at less than 0.03 for 3 years has gone up to 0.06. she said she is not worried and doesn't need to do another blood test earlier than the normal 12 weeks and that it is just a tiny amount. To me it has gone up. She said they will monitor over the next couple of blood tests but do you think we should be pushing for another scan, even if we have to pay privately,or to see the consultant or something else. He is still taking daralutamide and 12 weekly hormone injections. I don't want to panic but I can't help it.
  • Thank you
  • Hello

No need to panic - he's still got a prostate so it will produce some PSA - plus there are lots of reasons why there's been an increase. Did he exercise in the 48 hours before the blood test? Did the hospital use the same laboratory to test his blood under the same conditions?

The usual rules are intervention may be needed IF there is a rise in 3 consecutive blood tests or there is one rise of +2 or more. 0.03 to 0.06 is only a tiny rise.

Don't panic, get those cruise brochures out Sunglasses.

    Kind regards - Brian.

  • We came back from a cruise yesterday to the northern lights and in 14 nights the little pesky things didn't pop their heads out once. Next cruise in 5 weeks and then 10 more booked so husband has hidden the brochures from me. Lol

    • Thank you for your reassurance. I just panicked when she said the number had risen. The PSA is checked at the same hospital every time and apart from lugging my 2 suitcases full of shoes and handbags up the stairs when we got home no exercise
  • Hello

The only cruise I do is 22 miles from Dover to Calais and back!! Sunglasses. Mrs Millibob has never asked for a new dress, shoes or handbag!!

the northern lights and in 14 nights the little pesky things didn't pop their heads out once.

I am sure on some of these trips if there is a "no show" don't you get some or all of your money back? (We saw them up here in Oldham last Saturday Slight smile).

    Kind regards - Brian.
