Hi all. Hope you’re doing well.
Mr P had his RALP on Oct 19. Surgeon seemed to think cancer contained in the prostate but proof will be in the PSA pudding.
Anyway he hated the catheter, found it really uncomfortable and tip of penis so sore he needed Lidocaine gel which helped a bit.
The catheter had now been out 36 hours and the burning is still there plus an urge to wee when there is no wee. Has obviously been told only go when he thinks there’s actually wee there. Which is easier said than done There is no UTI and he escaped that during the two weeks.
TwoC went well, no retention. I know it’s really early days but are the symptoms he’s experiencing normal and will it settle?
Additionally, he has a terrible pain in his left shoulder blade, down his arm. He’s had an ECG, all good. Am wondering if it’s related to the position he was in during the op or related to the gas used in keyhole surgery.
Al in all, he’s a bit miz and sleeping a lot.
Anyone else experienced any of these things? Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks. Patty.
