Hello, hope everyone is OK. Please can I ask how long Degarelix has been effective for you please? Spoke to urology nurse today, she was factual but not very encouraging when she said it will eventually stop working and that it could be within a few months. This is a roller coaster of worry isn’t it. I’m sorry to keep posting with angst ridden questions. We contacted the nurse to see if it was OK for Mike to play tennis (widespread bone metastasis) and she advised against it saying there could be areas of weakness.
with best wishes
Moira
Hi !
median respons to Degarelix until progression is approx 12 - 36 months depending on tumor burden which gives you a clue that it’s not possible to say how long it works. In your husbands case it could be lots of years and then you also can add 2d gen ARPIs which pushes the cancer even further down the read.
So, if that was the only answer the nurse gave you and your husband; a couple, that actually sounds plain stupid with no connection to facts. Of course that can happen as well but it’s not even close to a realistic prognosis
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
