Well, PSA results are back and it's up again as expected, now at 3.80.

Further blood tests ordered to test my testosterone (I can tell them it's back without a test Innocent) and liver and kidney function and a PSMA PET Scan is being ordered.

I will keep you all updated - I know now after 3.5 years why they call this a "journey"

Thank you all for your comments and good wishes and continued support across the entire Community.

Best wishes

  • This is a bitter pill to swallow, Brian, but I think you were half expecting this?  Hopefully the scans might show what’s going on so the problem can be tackled ‘good and proper’. I know you have a good medical team around you so you are in good hands on this ‘journey’. We’ll all be wishing you all the very best, I’m sure!

  • Hello

    You are quite right:

but I think you were half expecting this?

Too right I was. Initial PSA of 182 - yes I was, however as you say

you have a good medical team around you

and that is why I am not worried.  I have had 3 years where I was unable to get my PSA down as low as others on HT so yes - not a surprise.

Thank you for the good wishes.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Hi Brian, sorry to hear.

Has Olarparib (parp inhibitor)ever been mentioned, have read good things about  it over the past few years.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Hello Steve (

Olaparib tends to be used in the UK for people with the BRACA1 & 2 mutations and after Chemotherapy. It's used too for Breast Cancer.

i think it's a case of finding out where the little buggers are hiding first and going for them next so hence the scan.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Brian

I’m just dropping by after noticing your post to say….remember chumbawamba!

Even when you’re half expecting something it can still be difficult to hear, so I’m sorry you’re back on a round of more testing and scans. But I know you’ll deal with this head on, and be ready for the next steps.

Keep on going in your usual inimitable way, my friend. Hugs to you (best not tell Lorraine!).

    Sarah xx

I feel great now I know what my PSA is and what action Christies are taking. for me it's not a worry, but I can imagine how others feel.

Thanks for your continued support - it mans so much.

    Kind Regards - Brian xxx

(PS Lorraine's happy I have my testosterone back - if only for a short period - but she say's she's still got me which is more important!! Joy)

  • Hi Brian,

Sorry to hear about the PSA, however I am glad to hear you have an excellent team who will be working hard to get you sorted.

Also, your upbeat nature and positivity is amazing(I realise this may not be a 24/7 disposition) but you just have a great way of looking at things.

We are all rooting for you and sending all the love and get back on the straight and narrow wishes!! Personal thanks to you for taking the time to give advice to so many on here

All the very best Brian Heart️

  • Always here as a bit of extra support whenever might you need it Brian-different cancers, but common bond. Feelings can be much the same for all of us, and knowing that people are rooting for you is that little bit of extra encouragement which really helps, I’ve found.

I have a huge amount of respect for you and all you do, and I have no doubt you will continue to do. We get knocked down, but get back up again, and that’s the best way to move onwards and upwards-I’ve done it more times than one of those weeble toys!Joy

  • Thanks

I am confident that there will be a happy ending - I do try and be positive all the time - life is far too short not to be. I have had bad weeks on my personal journey but sharing them on here brought me round.

Life is great at the moment - and thank you.

    Kind Regards - Brian.
