Feeling a bit sore

Good evening to you all, hope you have had a fab weekend.  I was just looking for a bit of advice as we don’t see our oncologist till July which is just a call.  My oh is experiencing the normal shrinking of his testicles and is coping well, however, he had been saying they can be really tender at times. Is this all side effects of the HT he is receiving. Sorry for being so blunt.  Any advice would be most welcomed.

Best wishes,

Majestic

  • I have not had any issues around what you have outlined, how long has he been taking the HT. Also there are several different ones available so he may want to have a call with the support team to ask if the medication can be changed

    Hope this helps

  • Hello ClubLeeds and thankyou for your reply, he started HT in July last year he’s had the normal side effects but the tenderness as only just been the last few weeks, I will ring the nurse next week and thankyou.

  • I had exactly the same symptoms in the first 2 months of treatment.

Some stinging and a feeling that my lower dangly parts were being shrink wrapped.

It went on for a while and then stopped. I can't say how long that was, because I kind of stopped thinking about it.

Right now - about 10 months on - there is no apparent pain or additional feelings. There has been shrinkage, however. Sunglasses

    Changed, but not diminished.
  • Good evening mstev2, yes that is exactly how my husband explained it, shrink wrapped. He is not experiencing any pain just a little tender now and again, I suppose we just expect the unexpected and try to make light of it as best we can.  Thankyou for your cheery reply. Best wishes,

  • Hi  , I had similar at the start of my HT.  I reported it to my oncologist and she did a quick examination to make sure there were no extra lumps.  Probably worth a self examination to check all is normal, but personally I would always let my team know just to get their opinion.  David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Hi

I know this one - apparently the shrinking of the testicles pulls on the "epididymis" causing the discomfort.

How to relieve it , I don't know, but knowing what it is makes it feel better somehow . I just asked Mr BW and he says he now has the "nuts" of a six year old boy. For some reason this sent us both into gales of laughter.

Oh what we've become, the journey continues...

    hope that helps

  • And that Lorraine

he says he now has the "nuts" of a six year old boy.

puts you in contention for the "Quote of The Month".

I've had a vision I didn't want but at the same time it brought back memories and made me chuckle. JoyJoy

  • Hello David 2017, Thankyou for some great advice, I will let the nurse know when she rings. We are getting to grips with all the different issues thrown at us along this Journey.  Best wishes, Majestic.

  • Hello BW, your reply gave me and OH the giggles, and yes it had made me feel better.  He’s still coming to terms with hair loss then now this. I’m sure it’s no cause for concern but this forum always seems to make feel human again. Best wishes, Majestic
