I finished my 20 fractions of Radiotherapy on 30th October last year, came through it with minimal side effects. I had to wait till 23rd December for my first blood test after treatment with a phone call from the consultant radiologist with results today 6th January. The consultant who started my treatment in April last year phoned me to let me ( and my wife )know how things had gone.
He couldn’t have given me better news, he told my PSA was now 0.04 it had come down from 10.7 when I was diagnosed in April and he said I would not need any more treatment ADT or otherwise, and they were discharging me back to my local urology clinic for monitoring every few months. He said they would invite me to a workshop to explain what was to happen in the future.
I’m fortunate my cancer was organ confined and I’m on my way to a full cure. I’m so grateful to the people on this forum for the support that I received during my very dark days. God bless everyone.
Best wishes Peter r
The very best of news Peter and what a relief for you and your wife. It might be an idea to ask for a testosterone test to confirm when this returns as the PSA might bounce up a little bit which is nothing to worry about provided it stays below 2 + the nadir.
Hello Peter (Peter r)
Well that's a cracking start to 2025 - I bet that telephone call has made your New Year!! Thank you for your post, we love good news.
I have completed Hormone Therapy and am under The Christie in Manchester. The system there is a workshop or video to advise you of what the future holds - in my case I am under a system called PEASS (Prostate Easy Access Self Service). I have two dedicated nurses I can contact during the week if need be. Every 6 months I get an e-mail to book a PSA blood test (mine is at a local hospice about a mile away). I have an online triage form to fill in and my results are e-mailed back to me the following day. It's a brilliant service.
My best wishes to you and your wife moving forward - we are always here, even for a chat.
Kind Regards - Brian.

Many thanks for that. You are one of people who gave advice and encouragement during my treatment. Thank you again.
best wishes m. Peter
Thanks for that Brian. I had the consultant on speaker phone for my results so that my wife could hear. She let out such a loud cry of joy when he said 0.04 that the consultant laughed and said we all heard that.
I realise I’m lucky that the cancer was caught in time and I intend to carry on with my healthier life style now. It’s nice to know that I’ve not just been cut adrift and that there’s an active follow up.
I was diagnosed at St Helen’s hospital and treated at Aintree Clatterbridge and received the best of care at both centers. I’m now back under St Helens urology dept.
Best wishes to you Brian for the future and thank you.
Peter.
