Hi Summer & Winter
I can't comment on the side effects of the various HT's you have mentioned as I haven't any personal experience of them, having been treated with Bicalutamide tablets & then Decapeptyl injections. What I can say from following previous threads for over 12 months is that the unknown is always the hardest thing to deal with & that the reality of any side effects is usually much less of an issue than our fears think they will be.
This reply should bump your query back to the top again & I'm sure someone who has experience of them will be along shortly & will be able to answer you in more detail.
Best Wishes
Brian
Hello Summer and Winter,
I've been taking Darolutamide for 5 months now (in conjunction with Prostap) and have not experienced side effects of any significance - and no sign of sickness or the trots. However, we're all different and some will no doubt have problems.
I have blood tests every 12 weeks before each review and have been advised to keep an eye on my blood pressure which I take at home because it's possible for that to become higher for some men on Darolutamide.
All the best,
Derek.
Hi sumner and winter
My Oh started his journey on Bicalutamide for I think 21 days but in the middle week he was given a Prostap injection. He is now on Aberaterone 1000mg & Prednisone 5mg a day with Prostap every 12 weeks . Side effects fatigued , has a few flushed when he went to bed but now subsided . A bit of a wobbly tummy but he’s working on it with doing at least 10 mikes a day . That’s helping with his fatigue . Can be emotional . But I must say it’s working for him as his PSA started at 14 and it’s now undetectable . He was up during the night and been prescribed Tamulosin which he takes around 8pm and it was working until he started his radiotherapy and it’s a bit different but hopefully get back to before once his RG stops 7th January . No sickness or diahhorea.
best wishes

Hello Derek.
My husband was on Enzalutamide for 18 months during which time he tended to be more fatigued and he stumbled more. Apart from that it was no different to the side effects from the Prostap injection. The Enzalutamide was very effective at doing its job and the side effects can be reduced by altering the dose if they become too troublesome. He had no sickness but tended more to constipation which we controlled with diet.
Excavator has given a good bit of advice about keeping an eye on blood pressure as all of these medications can come with side effects - my husband takes his weekly and noticed that it did increase whilst taking Enzalutamide.
The bone scan is similar to the MRI but make sure you drink plenty afterwards to flush the radioactive tracer out of your system. Don't forget to keep your distance from pregnant women and children for a few hours afterwards as you will be radioactive for a while and can light up your own Christmas tree.
