PSA Update

Hi

We got a phone call appt today to say PSA is now undetectable!

We are both relieved and delighted to hear this news and pray that the Enzalutamide and Prostap continues to keep things in check for a long time to come.

The only question I have is to wonder why they haven't suggested RT to zap the 1 lymph node and 2 bone mets he has. I don't want to ask this in front of him as it just makes him worried more...his attitude is that if the oncology team haven't suggested it, then he can't need it.

Anyway, we are just back from Lanzarote having had a marvellously relaxed break, where PC wasn't at the forefront of our minds all the time.   It seems there is life after such a horrible diagnosis.

Take care all

  • This is wonderful news. So encouraging, a fantastic update. Best wishes,

  • Hello Amanda (

Well I am so pleased at his PSA results and the fact you have had a great holiday (Sunglasses).

It may be an idea to e-mail or telephone his team and ask the question about the RT.  I just wonder as everything is under control they are leaving lymph node and bone mets to see how things work out. As you say though I think I would be asking the question.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi !

That’s a fantastic respons having undetectable PSA Slight smile With what you’re describing your husband is oligometastatic with the 2 bone mets and I would definitely ask for the possibility of a radiation therapy.

EBRT for the prostate, WPRT (Whole Pelvic Radiation Therapy) for the pelvic and zapping the lymph node and then SBRT to the bone mets. Of course they probably wan’t say it’s with curative intent but even debulking the cancer like this often giving really long term respons, especially as your husband is responding so very well to his systemic treatment.

Definetily something to check up Slight smile

    Best wishes - Ulf

  • Good morning Amanda. Great news for you as well with the undetectable PSA. As Brian has said, they are possibly waiting to see what response there is to the hormone therapy but I would email and ask for clarification if radiotherapy is going to be offered. Try using the lever that you want to plan more holidays which have obviously done you so much good.

    All the best.

  • Brilliant news for you both! I am pleased that you had a good holiday and are enjoying life! This darned disease does make us realise that we have to make the most of the here and now! X

  • Hi Amanda
