Hi just a quick update. I have finally started treatment 3 days ago.
I am taking Bicalutamide for 28 days, then in 14 days I will get a Leuprorelin injection, then every 12 weeks until I start radiation therapy.
No Idea when radiotherapy will be as I haven't seen an oncologist yet. Apparently Weston Park have a long waiting list.
I am hoping the Hormone treatment won't cause too many side effects but we will see.
My husband has the same diagnosis. He is 79. He finishes the hormone tablets tomorrow and has had one injection already. He goes for his planning appointment for radiography on 2 Jan then has the 4 weeks every day treatment.
as yet he has had NO side effects. He is very active. Eats sensibly and drinks a 2 litre milk carton of water every day ( he fills it up every day!) fingers crossed that this continues! Hope it’s the same for you.
I'm almost the same, expect for a Gleason 9 High Risk cancer.
So, although I am on 37 days of treatment, everything else applies.
I do have some side effects, hot flushes, loss of libido, erctile dysfunction, etc. BUT not sufficiently to impact my life.
Good luck everyone.
Steve
Thank you.
That's great that he has no side effects and good luck with the Radiotherapy next year.
This is a timely thread as I have just been watching a video on hormone therapy and thought that you might find a couple of tips in it.
