Salvage Radiotherapy

  1. I have just completed 33 sessions. It's been a long haul, daily travel plus treatment. I have noticed my side effects have deteriorated the further into the treatment I've gone. The fatigue has resulted in me having a nap each day. I found it very difficult to ensure I was ready for radiotherapy each day despite following the suggested regime. Failed on a number of occasions to receive the treatment at first attempt due to too much gas/ dehydrated. I found this resulted in having to carry out remedial action lengthening the day. As a patient it was very disheartening and stressful on top of everything else. I do also have IBS issues which I'm sure didn't help. The staff were very supportive and fixed me up with Loperimide. This was difficult to decide on whether to use and risk bowel blockage.  I finished radiotherapy on Monday and now have the ongoing side effects of the 'trots' and fatigue. Please note I was fully aware of the possible side effects.
