In August I posted that my husband's prostate cancer had, unusually, spread to the lower bowel. The treatment was hormones or possible surgery to remove bladder and bowel. Following a MRI they have now detected cancer in the liver. A biopsy is being scheduled to confirm, what they believe, that it is the Prostrate Cancer in the liver. This news was delivered by the surgeon who would have performed the op, he seemed very optimistic that following a biopsy treatment of hormones and chemo will allow my husband a few more years. My husband was happy with this news as no op means no stoma bags and possibly a few more years. I hope this is true, I'm very scared as cancer in the liver seems very bad news. Just wondering if anyone out there has been connected to anyone who has also had this type of diagnosis. Thank you
Hi MrsWave.
Good afternoon it's great to meet you today!!!
I'm very sorry to hear about your husband's current diagnosis.
My prostate journey started last year 2023 and mine is also "terminal"
Currently mine has spread to my bones unfortunately and I am currently on HT "tablets and injections" which brought my PSA numbers right down to single figures.
I have just had one shot of Radiotherapy to my pelvis area which had become very painful due to the bone mets all around my pelvis.
I do hope that other members can pop in and offer you some more help and advice.
I wish you both all the best for now and the future!!!!
Prostate Worrier.
Hello MrsWave .
I am sorry to hear about the liver mets on top of the lower bowel spread. I have no personal knowledge but thought you might like to listen to the attached video which, in my opinion, indicates that there is room for optimism with the current treatments available. It is interesting that he is recommending getting an expert involved with experience in gastrointestinal cancers with metastatic spread to liver and lungs as they have more experience in dealing with it. Another thing I did take away from it was to maybe add in Lutetium 177 into the conventional hormone and chemotherapy treatments as well as using targeted radiotherapy if isolated spots are found. Stay strong and positive.
