Hi !

As you can see in my profile I’m fairly new on this wonderful community and I’m also a prostate cancer patient living in Sweden.

My treatment journey is a little bit different then most locally advanced prostate cancer patients and therefore I’m curious from others experience from time of diagnosis,  curative treatments, treatments to suppress the cancer (ADT, 2nd gen treatments), studies that you have participated in, combination of studies and etc.

Of course it’s very interesting to see how everything is working out, pros and cons and perhaps how people handle long periods (maybe 2-3 years) of routine checkups to see if you are in total remission, potentially even Cure and also the time after long periods of ADT or/and combination therapies to still have long periods to know if you’re in the clear or not.

Locally advanced prostate cancer and also advanced prostate cancer in my own personal opinion is a extremly vague diagnoses as it spans from cure, long remission to high rates of recurrence and for me this is really a rollercoaster.

Hope to have some good inspirational dialogues and of course, EVERBODY is  very welcome in this discussion because everybody have a story to tell and to learn

Best wishes - Ulf

  • Hi Prostate Worrier !

No, you don’t need to have more thing to think about because it’s stressful enough doing the actual consultation when you have prostate cancer.

Really sorry for the rise in PSA and hopefully your MO can add for example some 2nd gen treatment to stabilize or even put ’the beast’ into remission but if I understand you correctly they are working on a new treatment plan.

I really hope you can have a good week my friend and enjoy some good football to relax your mind at least for a while.

    Best wishes- Ulf

  • Hi Ulifhub.

Many thanks my friend, yes the PSA now stands at 3.2 which isn't too bad considering.

Yes I will be at the hospital on Monday for a pelvis scan so when I see my consultant 5wks next Tuesday we will have a better idea on how the RT has worked.

I do hope that everything is ok with you this week???

  • Hi !

Sorry for late answer. Like you say, 3.2 in PSA doesn’t sound that high at all considering and really sounds that your Medical team takes every action in order to secure that they have the actual status and can do good planning for you my friend.

Besides from the stress and me being anxious of the upcoming PSA and Testosterone tests I’m managing; small steps and one day at the time.

Hope you have a good weekend my friend and perhaps you can enjoy some really good football or other nice activities this weekend and take your mind of ’the beast’

    Best wishes - Ulf

  • I have just found this about recent discussions on latest thinking with Lutetium 177 and Radium 223. It is small improvements and widening of therapies.

  • Thank you for posting this link, AH. It’s really encouraging to read the results of all these different trials. I hope others here feel the same HOPE that the article has given me - not just for my husband and me but for all men. Let’s hope these advances can be confirmed , approved and introduced asap.

  • To coin a well known phrase ‘every little helps’!

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Hi Ulifhub.

No probs my friend, yes I am very happy with 3-2 which is much better than 1000+.

Yes I think the med team are right on the ball which I am so grateful for to be honest.

I have got the football on today and tomorrow but I will have to revert to movies for the next 2wks as it is "international break"

I hope that you have a good weekend???

I have got another CT scan on Monday for my pelvis and around that area I think.

  • Hi !

It’s positive to see all these trials where they move radiation directed therapy earlier on in the PC treatments and I really believe that Lutetium, Actinium and other radioactive isotopes can make a big difference in the locally advanced / advanced groups with really long remissions and why not ’cures ’.

Fantastic Anyway and really gives hope.

  • Hi !!

Sounds like you’re keeping your mood up and that’s the only way in order to keep fighting ’the beast’.

Well, seems like you’re doing the right stuff, enjoying some football and movies and that’s good Slight smile I’m not really sure what ’international break’ is but hopefully it’s a ok thing.

Yes, I agree totally that 3.2 is MUCH better then 1000 + Slight smile So, please keep it that way or even better, bring it down more

    Best wishes - Ulf

  • Hi Ulifhub.

Many thanks my friend for your reply it's very much appreciated.

Yes I am still on the football on my TV setup.

Sorry but I new the moment that I sent the previous email that you would have trouble with the "international break"

Let me explain if I can for you: it means that all of my normal football stops for two weeks and England & other Intentional team's play two games instead.

I do hope that this makes sense??

I do hope that you have a good evening.
