Well was already anxious about my appointment tomorrow,I've just a telephone call to say its cancelled as the Oncologists off sick, meanwhile my PSA has risen to 5.1 .I understand people can be ill but it doesn't help my anxiety at the moment, Robert

  • Hi Robert

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and also the cancellation for tomorrow.

But on the face of it things don't look that bad, low PSA and Gleeson, also  most important, looks like confined to the gland which does make it easy to treat.

So time on your side and a slight delay is going to make no difference although obviously u wanted to see the specialist to understand the next course of action.

You could well be a good contender for active surveillance, just monitoring for the time being and have regular PSA tests.

So, hope u get another appointment soon and that all goes well.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Hello Robert ( )

That's not great, however you have low PSA and not a particularly aggressive TNM and Gleason so all should be well. I would be contacting the Oncologist's secretary trying to secure another appointment.

Easy for me to say - but you are fine at the moment - try and relax and let's hope the next appointment isn't too far away.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Brian, thanks for replying yes I’m going to phone them tomorrow,it’s taking the stuffing out me a bit and also suffering a chest infection at the moment which doesn’t help, but as they say onwards and upwards Robert

  • Hi  , take the opportunity to get yourself better.  It is hard to appreciate as you no doubt feel keen to get onto treatment but a few weeks delay will make no difference.  Take care and best wishes,  David

  • Hi David I was on the phone first thing to the specialist nurse and she’s going to email the secretary,so hopefully get word on starting RT soon Robert

  • Hi Warriors I was on the phone this morning and have a cancellation on the 1st of May,and 3 nurses phoned back, just shows when you are firm and take no for an answer

  • Hello Robert ( )

It's amazing what a little bit of polite self negotiation can get you, you do need to advocate for yourself to get through the NHS system.

Hope all goes well on 1 May.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Well done Robert!  Polite pushy and persistent is the easy forward!  Your statistics are certainly well within the curable range and treatments in the UK are gold standard. Don’t worry - you have been caught in time: you have time on your side and you will be fine.   AW
