Thank you for being here. I find these forums helpful.

Dad received his first zoladex injection approx 2 weeks ago. These will be monthly.  He is coping with fatigue and irritability but he feels foggy headed and, as he cares for my mom with alzheimers, he needs to be as alert as possible. Is there anything that would help with this symptom? He may not see.an oncologist for 6 months. Is this a normal wait time?

Thanks

  • Hello   A warm welcome to the online Prostate Community.

The side effects of Hormone Therapy include fatigue and "brain fog", the only thing I have found that works is exercise and being out in the fresh air (my dogs get decent walks!)  I would ask your team about this as perhaps one of the other branded Hormone Injections/implants may not have the same results.

A wait of 6 months to see an oncologist is far too long - personal opinion again, tell your team Dad is willing to attend any cancellation at short notice and if nothing is forthcoming then perhaps a call to the hospitals PALS team (Patient Advisory and Liaison Team) telling them the wait is causing anxiety and Dad need his treatment as he's a carer might help to speed things along.

To help us help you, can I ask that you put dad's diagnosis on his profile - Initial PSA, Gleason Core and TNM scores. Then we don't have to keep asking. To do this on the home page click on the icon of the chair (top right) then "profile" and then "edit". Thanks.

If I can do anything else for you please let me know.

    Best wishes - Brian.
