The fight continues
Hi Brian k.
Brilliant news about the drop in PSA. Hopefully your symptoms will subside around day 7. Make sure you tell the team about them as they may be able to give you something or adjust your treatment. Husband also had stomach cramps when on chemotherapy which kills the good cells of the gut as well as the bad cancer cells. He was prescribed cilroton which calmed things down. Also I fed him little and often with easily digestible meals and snacks but keeping it as varied as possible in order to keep a good gut biome. Be careful with dairy, I substitute plant milks. Keep your protein levels up, I add lentils or pulses into soups and stuck to chicken, turkey and fish. Also avoid fatty and sugary food plus acidic drinks and of course caffeine. Eat plenty of fruit and veg. Avoid undercooked eggs. If you want to eat yoghurt then make sure it is pasteurised by heating slowly to 72C first, then cool in fridge ready for use. Chemotherapy can cause constipation so don't suffer, hubby was told to take Lactulose, but check with the medical team before you take anything.
One down, 5 to go - keep going. All the best.
Good Morning Brian k
Great news about the PSA - The Triplet Therapy works and you are doing great, stick with it, listen to your body and the advice of those who have "been there - done that" (See the post from Alwayshope above) and between us - you and this Community - we will win.
Well done as Alwayshope said - 1 down 5 to go. .
Best wishes - Brian.

Great news Brian. Have a lovely holiday and come back fighting fit for your second round.
its only a holiday from my hospital visits lol
I have my second dollop of chemo tomorow and im really not looking forward to it but I think I know what to expect now. I have also been told by my doctor to sort my blood sugar levels out being a borderline type 2 diabetic so started on metaformin drug,
I have also beentold that i have to sloe down on my food ( i am eating for england at the moment and thought strenght goes in through the mouth!) awaiting my latest PSA count with fingers crossed. Agian thanks for your support,
Brian
Hi Brian.
All the best for tomorrow. With any luck the second session should be better than the first. Make sure you tell them of the symptoms you had after the first session.
The steroid is possibly increasing your appetite but be careful with the carbohydrates like potato, pastry, cake, biscuits, bread. Reducing carbs will also help with the borderline type 2. If you have porridge for breakfast it will fill you up for longer and give you slow release energy.
