Has anyone any experience or comments on HIFU?
Hi Steve
You previously commented on my MRI stats and said we were similar.
Here they are:
The PCa appears to be contained within the prostate.
PSA 13..17
PIPRAD 4
Localised
T2.
14mm tumour on left side between 3 and 5 on the clock.
There is something showing on the right side but they believe it is prostatitis.
Prostate volume 36cc - I had a HOLEP in 2012 - this will account for the smaller size.
Prostate density 0.39.

Hi WW
Have you read the recent Oxford Report? It has influenced my thinking to some extent.
"Active monitoring of prostate cancer has the same high survival rates after 15 years as radiotherapy or surgery, reports the largest study of its kind".
"Most men with localised prostate cancer are likely to live for a long time, whether or not they receive invasive treatment and whether or not their disease has spread".
"Survival no longer needs to be considered when deciding on treatment – as that’s the same for all three options."

Hi Steve
No previous MRI. I have been receiving annual chest/abdominal/pelvis CT scans unconnected with PCa. When they inadvertently discovered heterogeneity in my prostate in September 2023, they looked at the September 2022 ct scan and said there had been no change since then.
I had a HOLEP in 2012. In 2018 my last psa was 1.49. Now it is 13.37. These past 11 years may have been unofficially similar to your 4 years of Active Surveillance. I may have had a slow-growing PCa.
I hope for a Gleason 6 as we all do. I note that there is a move by some urologists in the USA and Sweden to have a Gleason 6 not categorised as cancer. They are also advising no treatment and active surveillance for G6.
I note that you were in that really difficult position of deciding whether to move from AS to treatment.

Oh so looks like you have not had a biopsy yet then.
PSA of 1.49 in 2018, presume no more until recently because low then.
Probably important to get a biopsy, hopefully low, looks like it would be.
Also because 14mm in size probably important to see if getting near to capsule edge as that is what spurred me into action
