Tinnitus

I am recently diagnosed and started hormone treatment about 1 month ago.

I have suffered from tinnitus most of my adult life and it has now intensified almost to an unbearable level (some days!).

Has anyone else had this experience?

  • Hello Marvo - And a warm welcome to "the club".

I have been on Hormone Therapy for 20 months and had most of the side effects of HT but that's one I have missed. I have had a read and can't find that anywhere in any of the information I have.

I can only suggest you have a word with your GP - check on the PIL (Patient Information Leaflet) for Prostrap or whichever HT you are on and see if it clashes with any other medication you are on.

Best of luck - Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Marvo

I have had Tinnitus for about 30 years, always remained about the same, just about bearable.

However looking online it appears that many meds and treatments can make it worse including HT.

I would contact your cancer center and tell them , see what they say, perhaps they can change the meds.

    All the best

  • Hi Steve

Did you opt out of H.T?  If so I would be interested in the details.

  • Hi D

Bit of a fluke I didn't have the HT but then with a Gleeson 6, PSA about 12 I sometimes wonder if low stats mean u could do without anyway.

With my first hospital when PSa only about 5 they never mentioned HT just RT.

  • Thanks for replying.  Yes.  I agree Steve.

The recent thread on 5 sessions of RT and no HT also tends to reinforce that idea.

    D

  • Yes, have by reading about the 5 dose, looks good.

My understanding is that it's more for people with low stats hence could be the reason for no HT, not 100% on that though

  • They said those who took part in the trial were medium risk

  • Ok, other interesting point, apparently may be possible to use if initially had external beam and cancer returned.

    Worth knowing that one

  • Or hopefully if it returns after surgery.

  • Yes true although RT always there after surgery but suppose this looks better
