Hi
I am a worried family member. My dad has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive prostrate cancer and it has spread to his pelvis, with a couple of scans still be done.
He is starting hormone therapy and then radiotherapy.
Is anyone in a similar situation? Is it still cure able if it has spread to the pelvis?
Are treatable and cure able 2 different things?
It all seems to have happened so quickly in the space of a few months.
Overwhelmed and in shock.
No not a full picture yet.
THank you for getting back to me
Hi Stuart
My partner has just had Rt over his entire pelvis and up the sides of his torso, so it covered a large area. His cancer is locally advanced and has broken out of the prostate “ but because his psa is so high, it is probable that there is a wider metastatic spread, but undetectable at this point. I guess he must be on the cusp of if it’s worth treating with RT, before moving on to Chemo? sure hoping it wasn’t a “useless” procedure though.
I suspect there’s an element of a consultant taking a punt on these things when it comes to that line between curable and treatable.
best wishes,
L
