Hi all. Firstly, what an incredible community.
My father in law has just got the diagnosis of PC (over the phone with few details). He's said he has an option of surgery or laser. But I can't see references to laser on the forum and I'm worrying if he's misunderstood (English is not his first language) and actually the choice is surgery or HT/RT.
Has anyone been offered laser on the NHS?
We'll be pushing for more information but wondered if anyone here had any information.
Hi Pulpo a feria and welcome to the club.
That's a cracking user name. I am sad but I had to Google it and it's a Spanish Octopus dish - and it looks amazing.
Anyway - welcome. As far as I am aware there is a laser treatment and it does shrink the prostate but as far as I am aware (I have been wrong before!!) it's only available as a private treatment.
As you say I think he's been offered surgery or HT/RT. I think at this point the best course of action would be to obtain a copy of his diagnosis and let us see what his PSA, Gleason Score and Staging are and we as a community would be able to offer advice and help to you and your father in law with the two options.
I hope the above helps but keep posting - we are all happy to help.
Kind Regards
Brian.
