Once the HT has been completed - I understand 2 years . Will all

the side effects diminish. I’m thinking about hot flushes , man boobs and weight gain - asking so I can inform hubbie .

We are seeing radiation team in 10

days .

Thanks

  • Hi Anne Marie

We all react differently to the HT. Mine took it's time before it got a proper hold of me and now I have no issues with the side effects. You just change your outlook and get on with it.

I understand when HT has been completed it can take 12 - 18 months for the effects to go - but I hardly notice mine now and I am still on it!

    Kind Regards

    Brian.

  • Hi

Ask about radiation prostitis, this can happen I was one of the unfortunate ones, it raises its head every so often. Other than that maybe some runny pool

    Stay safe

  • Thanks , I’ll add it to my list of questions. Have you recovered from the RP now or still suffering

  • Hello AnneMarieH,

I suffered from terrible hot flushes and was offered a 10 week course of accupuncture, once a week session of 40 minutes 5 needles in each ear. It didn't work for me but itdid for others on the course. Oncologist prescribed Cyproterone once daily and they subsided. I developed radiation proctitis after 6 weeks of R. T. Was referred to Gastrologist but had to wait 8 months for an appt. Had 'Purastat' treatment visa 4 sigmoidoscopies at monthly intervals and after the last one the bleeding has subsided. I also enrolled on the Colo-Spirit research done by Newcastle University looking into management and experiences of radiation proctopethy.

I write down questions and take them to appts. as it is easy to forget to mention stuff. Hope all goes well for your husband.

Best wishes, Graham. (utb - up the Boro'.)
