Good afternoon
husband had his first radiotherapy this morning. Was in for over 2 hours was in and out the room trying to get the right bladder level. But got there in the end. Would be the first one xx
after the first radiotherapy he went to pass urine and he said it was a wee bit burning sensation when he started to pee. Is this normal after 1 session xx
Hi Skye
Getting bladder level right - what a palaver, I remember it well! Hopefully your hubby will settle into a routine so that he is at the right level going forward. It is easy if all the appts are at the sametime, I was lucky as I can walk to my hospital so I got the first one every day.
Not sure about the burning but it can irritate and inflame the surrounding bits and bobs. Make sure he mentions it at his next session. I got bit of irritation towards the middle of my 20 fractions and they suggested paracetamol and that made a big difference for me.
Hope rest of the RT goes a bit more smoothly, Steve
Hi Skye
Second time today SteveB has got to answer someone before me!!!!!
He's right though, mention the burning to the radiographer at the start of the next session, I was fine with mine throughout although the frequency increased towards the latter sessions.
Interesting about the content of the bladder. I had my RT at The Christie in Oldham and we look to be the only place in the country where RT was done with an empty bladder. Easy!
I hope the next 19 sessions go well.
Best wishes
Brian.

Thank you. I think it was just a little burning sensation when he just went for his first pee after the blast. Has been since and didn’t happen. But will mention it on Monday when he goes in. Yes his appointments are all the same time first thing so they fine. As others seem to be a bit scattered about. He has to be in first thing too. Hopefully the rest goes smoothly with little side effects. Xx
Aww need to be quicker .
aww yeah will mention it will keep an eye on it. You would think it be easier with an empty bladder but seems to be a mix of females and males in the department having to get the same levels I wou presume the ladies not in for prostate cancer
Our niece was treated for cervical cancer recently and she had to do the same.
yes funny how all different as many have been told to follow a diet so I been advising my husband and today we asked as he had a bit of trapped wind which was putting pressure on his bladder which made him think he was bursting.
but they advised him not to make any diet changes at the moment so goodness knows.
I suppose everybody’s bodily functions not the same.
Hats off too you guys going through this.
xx
Ha Ha!!
Radiotherapy (known in the Millibob household as "The Sunbed Shop") was a piece of cake compared to the biopsy!!
I rest my case!
Have a great weekend.

Couldn't agree more. Biopsy vs 10 mins having a snooze dreaming of an Aussie beach - not much of a contest I feel!
