Hi everyone , my brother has metastatic prostate cancer stage 4 he had an infusion of zolendronic acid recently but has felt generally unwell since. Does anyone have first hand knowledge as to whether this is normal.  I worry each time he is unwell

Thank you

A very worried sister

  • Hello Jes42

I am sorry to hear that your brother is feeling unwell since his Zolendronic acid infusion. I can understand that this is worrying you. Has your bother spoken with this CNS/doctors about how he is feeling? Hopefully they are keeping a close eye on him.

You asked whether it is normal to feel unwell with this and I have put a link below with some information about some of the side effects he may have.

I hope this helps a bit but please do mention it to his doctors so they can help support him with any side effects he is having.

  • Hi Jes, I have zoledronic acid infusions every 28 days and have been on them for the last 2 years. Yes it is normal to feel rough and sore, my first one I was in agony with joint pain and flu like symptoms. After speaking with clatterbridge I was informed to have infusion over a longer period until my body adjusts to them. For the next 6 months I had my infusions over 25 mins with 10 min flush instead of 10 min infusion and 10 min flush, this helped with side effects massively. Also the day before tell him to start taking paracetamol every 4 hours and drink lots of water, this helps. I am stage 4 with metastasis in spine and pelvis so know what he’s going through. Always here if he wants a chat. Take care. My story and treatment plan is on my profile if you want any info or feel free to message me. I will respond but may take a few days as I’m currently on holiday in Cala D’or x

    Regards

    Paul
