My husband on Thursday gets the results if his MRI, bone scan and biopsy. We are meant to be going abroad on Saturday for 2 weeks. I know no one will have a definite answer but what do you think the chances are if us being able to go. Is it likely they would want to start treatment or something in that 2 weeks or don't things happen that quick. Thank you

  • Hi Shar,

Probably best to to contact the nurse team that should be assigned to you. It's hard to say really as theres an element of personal choice I guess. Was your husbands PSA reading in the 50"s? Also You should check your insurence covers him ? I would think it covers a refund but not any medical care away possibly? I don't know you need a bit of professional advice here.

    Best wishes

  • Hi shar I agree with barryW, not telling the insurance company will invalidate the insurance, I started my treatment the same day I was given the diagnosis, so first ask your Macmillan nurse then you can decide to go on holiday or not. All the best Ulls

  • Thank you. I have checked with the insurance company and they don't need to know about any new conditions diagnosed until we renew the policy next year

  • Thats an excellent company can I ask which one, we would like to go abroad but the quotes are really expensive.

  • That a great result with the insurance company! I'm swinging towards take the holiday now. I obviously don't know what your results of your tests are, but theres a possibility that it will be Hormone treatment initially maybe? and that's just a tablet first and the an injection a bit later or if it's a prostate removal ( which I have no idea about) it wouldn't be immediate. If you are insured, I'd just check with the nurse and go for it!

  • I've heard of them a life insurance company never thought about travel insurance, thanks for letting me know

  • Hi Shar

Have the Multi Disiplinary Team met yet - I feel its likely they havnt. Based on this I would be surprised if treatment starts in the next 2 weeks.

    Trying to get fit again!
  • I would be sure to have that in writing if you have not already done so. I have never come across an insurer that does not need to be notified of changing medical conditions or awaiting results, other than routine results. I have two policies and both say the same. I had the RP in Nov last year and getting my final results from the surgeon end of this month. Insurer will cover me for any eventuality not linked to PC, not cover me anything to do with PC until the results are in and depending on the results.
