Platelets and PC Concern

Hi all

My husband has had problems with low platelets/clumping before diagnosis and after.  initially they put his last 3 abnormal platelets down to the possible after effects of chemo and radiotherapy but on looking at previous results it appears that his platelets have been abnormal/clumping since 2020.  The GP doesn’t seem to know why this is happening so asking haematology for advice and is hoping oncologist has some answers also.  Has anyone else had a similar  situation?  should I be concerned?
Kind regards to you all

  • Hello Jnc,

I am sorry to hear of your husbands prostate cancer journey. It must be a worry to be told about the abnormal/clumping platelets.

This is not something I have much experience in but I am replying in the hope that it will move your post to the top again and maybe a gentleman who has experienced will see and offer support. I hope that this is ok.

It is good that although the GP is not sure why this is happening, that he has referred to haematology. They are the real experts and I hope that it will not be long before your husband hears back from his oncologist with some answers.

Please do let us know if you or your husband need any further support in the mean time.

  • Hello Jan,

I can understand that it is a real worry and that you just want to know. Waiting is hard.

We are not medically trained on the community and can only answer from our own experiences but you could consider asking one of the nurses on here while you are waiting.
