Staladex

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has received Staladex instead of Prostap. My pharmacy issued this drug instead of Prostap last week and my nurse did not know too much about it. It is an implant that is injected in the tummy. The needle is fatter so it hurts. I could not refuse at the time as waiting for a replacement would take time. Now I’m wondering if it is as effective. It has the same formulation but it does concern me.

  • Hi Stanly, I hadn’t heard of Staladex so I looked it up. It contains leuprorelin acetate which is what PROSTAP contains but in implant form. Therefore it should be equally effective as PROSTAP. Hope this helps.

  • I'm hearing of a few people being given Staladex instead of Prostap. I presume there's a shortage of Prostap. It's the same drug as already said, although it's slow release profile may be different.

  • Thanks for your confirmation that drugs are the same.
