Hi. I was diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer in September of last year, having started symptoms at end of July. I have been having Hormone Therapy since ( with all the associated side effects unfortunately), had a TURP to reduce symptoms in November (great success in taking pain away). I hope to start Radiotherapy in March - awaiting final dates. I have the lifestyle impact of the side effects of treatment (muscle ache, hot flushes, poor sleep etc) which means I cant as yet do all the sport I used to.
I have learnt a lot through the past 7-months and I know its a tricky ride all the way through, and for me personally it is now and will be for a number of months to come.
I have an amazingly supportive family and friendship group but I think I would value talking to (a really informal chat over a pint or coffee (decaf these days!)) others also with Prostate Cancer. The MacMillan Horizon Centre in Brighton is a great resource but they do not run anything specific to Prostate Cancer.
If anyone is interested in informally connecting to chat things through then do let me know.
Just putting it out there as an idea,.
Thanks
Andy
Afternoon Andy and Welcome - Should you not be called exSquashplayer?? Sorry about that it's just me after reading your introduction.
There are plenty of people on here willing to chat, and if you want a one to one with someone just sent them a friend request. If you fill in your profile you can add details of your diagnosis and we can help with any issues you have.
If you click on my picture of Oludinez beach you will see that I am about 2 months ahead of you. On HT - had the TURP and now on RT.
Best wishes for your journey - Brian.

There is a Prostate Cancer Support Group in Brighton by the looks of it, although I don't know it personally.
