Hi all, I don’t post here often but hope to start a discussion on Docetaxel, I am sure there have been other discussion though. You can see from my profile that I am stage 4 and in my case Abiraterone has failed quite quickly (3 to 4 months). PSA now 31.6 from a low of 4 I think. So it never really had the impact on my that others might have seen. I am now considered to be Castration resistant PC. In discussion with Oncoligist she has said the best option now it to try and halt the progression of cancer (quite widespread in bones) with 10 sessions of Docetaxel. I am interested in other peoples experiences of this chemotherapy and happy to record my journey with it here of it might be helpful to others in the future. I start at the on the 6th of Feb with bloods on the 2nd and pre Chemotherapy and call with Oncologist on the 3rd of Feb.
Any experience you have had are welcome here. Hope you are all well.
Cheers
M
Like L , I too have been wondering how you are, Morton? I hope things are going a bit better for you? X
Hi guy's I'll tell Morton your wondering about him as its not for me to inform you
Hi everyone so sorry I haven’t updated the thread recently. As you know chemo had stopped for me now. Unrelated to chemo I had a big stomach bleed over the last 2 weeks (caused by naproxen) and ended up as an inpatient twice having transfusions and endoscopies and repairs. It has been a really difficult 2 weeks and I have come out of it battered and bruised lol. Of course being in hospital isn’t a place for rest and recovery and now I am home I am trying to take some time to get energy back to a level where I can do stuff and am interested in stuff again. Just had a great appointment with the hospice doctor and nurse and they were really reassuring and helpful. So apologies again I haven’t been in touch but I will update you after my next oncology appointment which is next Wednesday
Hope you are all well

Hi Michal,
I'm glad you are at home now, as you say hospitals are not the place for any rest that's for sure. I'm hoping you have some good news with the oncologist, you are such a lovely kind guy and you have been so generous sharing your journey and I'm hoping for the best.
Keep strong xx

My partner is having radiotherapy now was told chemotherapy won't work ..... McMillan are amazing people....he is stage 3 cancer Gleason 9 PSA 284 . Advanced cancer it has come out of the prostate.
It's really hard to deal with ....I think you men are so strong and have great positive attitude....we have now got a puppy and he puts the biggest smile on my partner face makes me happy....my partner proposed on my birthday a few weeks ago and we are planning a small wedding.....
Love to you all
Hi Dancing 50
I do plenty of silly things to keep a smile on my wife’s face, not tried a puppy although we deal with one smack in the face after another, without the support of loved ones, my wife who’s my carer as well is special, worries all the time, cries a few times so I do my best to cheer her up.
Mcmillan are great people, I can imagine that sometimes it rips them apart knowing what an outcome is, then a big smile when someone is cured.
Good luck with your wedding.
Stay safe
Joe
Hi all, thank you so much for your kind words and support. I have a great medical team looking after me so feel reassured that they are doing all they can to keep me on track at the moment. This is an awful disease when it gets out of control but I certainly am not throwing in the towel yet. Far too many nice things to do :)
Hope you are well

Hi Michael, we all seem to have highs and lows during this pc journey - times when things look really bad and times when we dare to hope. I’m sure we are all sending you bucketfuls of hope for successful treatment ( maybe a trial?). I know, too, that we are all hoping that you will soon recover from your recent traumas. Take good care of yourself and sending you love x
