Hi all, I don’t post here often but hope to start a discussion on Docetaxel, I am sure there have been other discussion though. You can see from my profile that I am stage 4 and in my case Abiraterone has failed quite quickly (3 to 4 months). PSA now 31.6 from a low of 4 I think. So it never really had the impact on my that others might have seen. I am now considered to be Castration resistant PC. In discussion with Oncoligist she has said the best option now it to try and halt the progression of cancer (quite widespread in bones) with 10 sessions of Docetaxel. I am interested in other peoples experiences of this chemotherapy and happy to record my journey with it here of it might be helpful to others in the future. I start at the on the 6th of Feb with bloods on the 2nd and pre Chemotherapy and call with Oncologist on the 3rd of Feb.
Any experience you have had are welcome here. Hope you are all well.
Cheers
M
Hi Morton, I was able to go in with my hubby the first time, not for the actual I, for the information and to go through everything I need to look for as well, 2 heads are better than one, if your wife/partner is able then is a great help, I went with him for all rounds and blood tests just for support even though I couldn’t go in with him.
This may help, my husband used to have a ginger drink before chemo and he ate plenty of the ginger biscuits provided

Hi Morton
Unless something goes wrong, then they will give all ten, funny I remember my last one, the pack became cloudy then stopped just over half way through, I had nurses look at it, then the people who supple it were on site and looked at it as well. They scratched their heads too.
Stay safe

Hi Ulls
I am new here. Thank you for such positive energy. My husband (58) is after second ChT with Docetaxel. and has a lot of pain in back, chest, neck, on the fird day after ChT. He is tired, and feel a bit little dizzy. After painkiller Codeine in not too bad. He has every three month as well injection Zoladex. PSA from 29 foll to 2.3. Like you wrote it is worth. I have to be strong for him too. I wish all of you to be patient, keep going and success will be with you.
Thank you to be here
Hi Amber84
Chemo has that effect on different people, once you get through it, things get better. Will he have radiotherapy? What stage is he ? I have wrote many many times on here, how wives and partners are the backbone we need, my wife bleeps her is my carer, the worlds worst worrier, even with all my antics keeping her smiling ( I’m the original big kid ) make sure you keep checking his temperature very important and I hope he and you get through this, the latter sessions get a bit easier as you know what to expect.
Stay safe
Joe
