Hot sweats at night

It has been over 4 years since I started having hormone injections for Prostate cancer, which finished Sept 2019. I had Chemo and Radiotherapy which finished on the 31 October 2019. I am still having hot night sweats at regular times, 3,5,and 7, the one at 3am is very srtong and lasts on average 50mins, I am usually just on the egde of sleep after this when the 5am one starts which is almost as strong. I still have the odd sweat during the day but they do not last long now. I have tried using medication but found my reaction to them too much to cope with. Is there anything that may help reduce these?  I tried sage but because of radiation damage to my bowel I cannot cope with the wind that it causes, I have BAM and take immodium daily.  Thank you from Pixiediddle

  • Try Evening Primrose Oil. It's available from Holland and Barrett, in the shops or online. I combined it with Sage but it might help on its own. At least it shouldn't do any harm.

My GP was also a trained Homeopath and suggested Sepia (Cuttlefish Ink) which was good when the other treatments started to wear off. Just 3 tablets in one day roughly every six weeks or so. You can buy them online but you should really get a consultation before you start taking any alternative medication.

  • I had some success with Acupuncture.  After about 4 sessions it began to work.  The severity went down, so I downloaded the Hot Flushes to Warm Flushes.

About a couple of weeks ago I stopped getting them.  My last Hormone injection was Christmas Eve 2021.  It took a full year to clear my system.

Then just to show who is boss I had one at the weekend.

  • Hi Steve thank for that info, I will give it a try, beast wishes, Brian

  • Hi Seamus thanks for the info, I have tries EP oil and Vit E and other stuff, I will look into Sepia, thats a new one to me, I do believe in and use complementary products for other health conditions, best wishes, Brian

  • Hi Seamus, I have looked at Sepia, very interesting I am going to try it. I looked at your profile and you say that you took Sepia once every 6 weeks, can you recall the strength of it as I have found it is not just one strength? Many thanks, Brian

  • The strength I was prescribed was 30C. Crunch and swallow one tablet at 11am, 3pm & 7pm, at least an hour away from any food or drink. They can be bought online from Freeman's Pharmacy in Busby near Glasgow.

You should consult a qualified homeopath before taking any remedy.
