Hi everyone,
On reading through the internet I came across some treatments that claim wonderful results. Can anyone here throw some light on their efficacy as alternatives to ht and rt? Thank you.
HIFU
NanoKnife® treatment
targeted transperineal biopsy
There's a good comparison of HIFU & NanoKnife here:
They are for targeting different areas of the Prostate, so it depends on the spread of the cancer as to which is more appropriate. I had HT/RT so can't really comment any more.
Targeted Transperineal Biopsy is a diagnostic method and not a treatment. I had an Artemis guided trans-rectal biopsy so again have no experience.
I hope that helps a bit.
More details in my Bio of my journey.
I had HiFU 3 weeks ago, too early to say if it has helped. PSA blood test due 3 months after surgery.
Recovery has been OK so far, I was dreading catheter removal but it was fine. First light 5K run over the weekend so things feel they like they are getting back to normal.
Flow test and follow up next week. So far, apart from the annoying catheter, I was probably more uncomfortable after the biopsies compared to the HiFU.
I had private health cover through work and used the company in Seamus47 link above, I listened to 'On Focus' on spotify which led me to that clinic. I started in the NHS and was offered removal or radiation, I was leaning more to removal.
To see if I was suitable for HifU, I had a multiparametric MRI and then a fusion targeted transperineal biopsy, followed by HiFU to zap two lesions.
Good luck.
