Hello everyone, I’m just wondering if anyone has had a similar story to myself and how they are further down the line.

I was diagnosed two weeks ago after 15 months of tests. I wish I’d had a biopsy sooner. I have two tumours one Gleason 6, one 7, I know that’s low grade and I’m grateful but this was seen on an MRI in January, it scored a 3 so wasn’t necessarily cancer, that’s why it was left.

The tumour was in the top corner of the prostate so I’m scared it’s grown through the prostate wall. I’m having an MRI on Friday to see the up to date situation, with a view to hopefully having surgery if there’s no spread.,

I can’t stop thinking of the what ifs, has anyone else been through similar?

Thank you and good luck to you all

  • Hi Clanic

I was similar to yourself with a Gleeson 6, u don't say what PSA is..

Went on AS for 4 years , When u have the MRi will be important to find out if the tumour is/how near the capsule edge and also the size in mm.

I had 2 tumours, the largest started at 3mm and when I started treatment in 2017 it had grown to 13mm..

    So far everything Ok.

If they had been overly concerned at the Mri in Jan I'm sure they would have started treatment

    keep us posted

    good luck

    Steve

  • Hi Clanic,

I am sure everyone on this forum has felt the same as you at some stage. But there are a lot of places to go to for support. You are not alone in this.
I was diagnosed in May, after the MRI and biopsy. Widespread disease in the prostrate and opted for prostatectomy, which I have just had. Now waiting for the biopsy to check if it’s peripheral negative.
The waiting was, and is, the worst bit. Speak to your cancer specialist nurse about usual speed of spread, and you will get to speak with a surgeon and oncologist to assess the best course of action for you. It may not be removal.
But keep positive, and don’t let this take over your life.
    Good luck.

  • Welcome Clanic. If you post more about your biopsy (number of cores taken, number poitive, % involved, gleason scores)  PSA history, and scan results, you will get more comments. Also please clarify. Do you have two tumours or do you mean two positive cores?

  • Thank you, sorry, new to all this and a bit overwhelmed at the moment.
PSA has risen to 10.8 from 7 in 12 months, MRI showed one tumour, none were felt on examination, biopsy showed 2 tumours I’m told, one Gleason score 6, one 7, 18 cores taken, 6 positive, 5 G7, one G6.
it’s just because the shadow on the MRI last January was in top corner, I’m worried it may have grown out of the capsule and spread. I’ve been told this is unlikely but I can’t stop thinking about it I have an up to date MRI on Friday but have to wait 14 days for results.

  • Thank you, I hope you get good news.
Im sure when I have a plan, whatever that may be, I’ll feel better.
    Good luck to you

  • Thanks Steve, will they have been able to tell from the biopsy if the tumour had gone near the capsule edge? They took 18 cores, only 6 positive Glad all ok for you, hope you continue that way

  • Its the MRI that will tell that, so time for another.

You can always ask for a copy of the MRI report just for your records.

MRI should tell u tumour size as well which would be useful to know.

PSA is lowish which is good.
