My DH has been on HT since mid-July - he will also have chemo. The recommendation is that chemo starts within 3 months. We had booked a  family and some friends (who don't yet know about cancer yet) trip to New York mid-Nov for my husband's 60th birthday. So I thought we should cancel however Consultant said could either start and break treatment or Ok to start the chemo a bit later than the three months it would be just less than 4 months. My husband wants to do this - any views?

  • Hi

I can't help with your question but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.

Wishing you all the best with whatever decision you make and, if it's to go away on holiday, I hope you have a lovely time.

  • Hi

Welcome to our ever increasing domain, chemotherapy can affect the person that has it in many ways, loss of hair, taste, super hot sweats, to name a few. Plus if you buy insurance which going to America you would have to, can cost a large amount of money. When your on chemo you can get a few things so insurance is a must. If he decides to have the chemo when you get back that’s all different, but I would check with the oncologist about a start date if you go away.

What was his numbers PSA, Gleason, stage ? PC is very slow to grow, in my case I wanted or my wife did throw everything and then some at it.

    hope this helps a little

    stay safe

  • Thanks 2 consultants have said do chemo on return so we will still go on holiday to celebrate his 60th birthday. I have to get top up insurance for him for any prostrate related health issue - so hope I can find that this week.
