Hi All,
I have just spoken to my Oncologist regarding my recent radiotherapy treatment.
My PSA level has now dropped to 0.01. As you can imagine I’m really pleased with the results.
My next blood test and consultation will be in February 2023. I still need to be on Prostap 3 until October 2024.
Tyler
Hi Tyler19. Congratulations. Your PSA is likely to stay at a very low level until you finish your HT. My PSA dropped to 0.1 at the end of my RT in March 2019 and was then <0.1 (the lowest measurement possible in my NHS area) for 3 years. I finished HT in June 2021 and, in the last test at the beginning of June 2022, it had risen to 0.2. I had a telephone consult with my Oncology nurse and he said that was perfectly normal as I still have a prostate. I will continue with 6 monthly tests for another 4 years and as long as the PSA stays below 2 they will take no action. After 5 years post treatment, I will move on to annual tests as long as the PSA stays low.
Tyler,
Congrats on your PSA levels. Mine was 0.03 last week (up from 0.09 in February but I'm not complaining).
Oncologist said it might rise when my Testosterone starts up again. Could that mean no E.D.? Time will tell.
Luckily I'm off the Hormones now. Still get the raging Hot Flushes though, just to let me know who is in control.

Hi Steve
I'm a little behind you - my first PSA blood test after finishing HT is in 3 weeks or so. Like you , I'm still getting hot flushes, but know the testosterone production has started up, as the hair on my legs is growing back. A bit nervous about this blood test and feel that it will be the same forever ( I will have them for life, as I guess we all will). In Feb it was undetectable at <0.03, which I have been told is the lowest they can measure here in Dorset. Fingers crossed it hasn't moved too far by September!
Regards
Stuart
Stuart, I can't wait for my leg hair to grow again.
Are you getting your PSA levels done at your Doctor's? Had mine done 2 weeks before my Oncologist appointment, got my results the following morning via the "Airmid" app.
Then the Oncologist knew exactly the state of things.
Steve (SteveCam)
Hi Steve yes exactly the same as you - GP takes the blood test then I have a chat with the ( probably) cancer nurse at the hospital.
Regards
Stuart
Hi all - I'm interested in how you're all doing. At 58, I had IMRT to prostate and lymph (positive nodes) in 2020, 2 yrs of ADT (androgen blockade) finished in Aug 2022. PSA rocked down to 0.01 after IMRT and stayed there until Jan 2023, then up to 0.12 in June 2023 and now at 0.32 in Jan 2024. Due to velocity, I'm off for a PSMA PET-CT, so we'll see. Onco has said it should be clear, but who knows as diagnosed with gleason 8 locally advanced disease (on PET)? Maybe the 0.32 was a 'bump' or perhaps was skewed by sexual activity? My testosterone has continued to recover to 6.5, so is clearly stimulating more PSA. I'm philosophical at this point....just a waiting game as ever. Glass always half full !!
Hi Ernest.
A warm welcome to the group. I hope you find it a great source of help and information. Many of the posters have documented their journey on their profile page which can tell you how they are going. To access it just tap on the chair or picture by the side of their name and it will pop up.
It is always a worry when there is a blip in the PSA. It sounds as if your oncologist is being very proactive by offering the PSMA PET CT and I hope that it is clear, but if not then there are plenty of options still left open for you. My husband is on his third blip now but he does have advanced metastatic PCa and still more tools in the toolbox.
Keep us informed of your journey and come back with any questions. Good luck from another 'Glass half full' personal.
