OH had two fractions of HDR brachytherapy beginning of March prescribed Tamsulosin for three months. Is now feeling dizzy did anyone else experience this side effect? Cancer nurse suggested taking at night rather than in morning as prescribed

  • Hi Galacl,

I have been on Tamsulosin for a while now with no side effects. Hopefully the cancer nurses suggestion will work, did you ask your GP if there is an alternative to Tamsulosin which could maybe help?

    Take care, Tom.

  • Tamsulosin can drop your blood pressure. If in doubt, talk to your GP about it.

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.

  • I’ve been on Tamsulosin for 7 months now and no side effects what so ever, during RT when I had pain passing urine at night the nurse told me to take the tablet in the evening.

  • OH is going to see how changing from morning to night works. Going to mention to nurse practitioner when he goes for his 12 weekly Decapeptyl later this month. Thank you all for sharing your experiences

  • Hi Galacl, I've been on tamsulosin, since Nov19 no adverse side effects, but everyone is different, talking to the professionals and taking their advice, is always the best way to go.

  • I haven't checked but I seem to recall that the leaflet in the box of tablets says to be taken after the first good of the day or at any time after food.  I've not had any side effects. I take mine after lunch as I take other tablets after breakfast.

  • Should be first food of the day not first "good" of the day! Why does spell checker always think it knows betterSunglasses

  • Hi GALACL

I have been on these tablets for about a year now with no side effects. I was told to take them when I go to bed at night as this is the time when you really want them to work. I was taking 2 a day at one time but am now on just 1 a day following radiotherapy treatment on my prostate.

I totally agree with previous advice that you should take them at night and not during the day.

    Best wishes,

    Andy.
