Hi Guys,
im currently on watch and wait , I had a TRUS biopsy 2 years ago, and had regular PSA bloods done. As part of the “ keeping an eye out” I’m now booked in for a template biopsy .
Can anyone share their experience of this biopsy? I will be getting antibiotics before hand and the procedure is under local anaesthetic. How soon after the biopsy did you return to work?
Any info greatly appreciated
Thanks so much
Mark
Hi Mark
I developed prostatitis after a template biopsy but I believe most people are ok after it.
I was out of hospital the same day. I was given a sick note for 4 days. The problems started afterwards.
An alternative to template biopsy is a targeted one taking a small number of samples from the suspicious area.
Hi Mark,
I had a template biopsy under local anesthesia in May 2020, and I was petrified! However the procedure was painless, and it was a day case. I'm retired so work wasn't a problem. I had a catheter in for about ten days which I found rather uncomfortable, it was a great relief when the district nurse removed it, and I could pee freely! So have no fear, you'll be fine.
Best of luck,
Bas
