I’ve put a post up in another thread, asking for info but I would like to widen my request out into the wider Community.

Has anyone had experience of the Space-OAR mitigation technique? My consultant has suggested that it might help me, asI have had diverticular bleeds in the past.

Your input would be much appreciated.

  • I wasn't offered it, but have had no problems so far.

A fair number of people do get radiation problems, often years down the line, and Spacoar has been shown to reduce the risk.

Not everyone can have it, of course, because the insertion could actually spread the cancer. Each case needs to be considered separately.

Seems to me that with bowel problems already, it would be a no-brainer if it's safe. It's quite a minor procedure.

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.

Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.

Thanks for that Heinous, you’ve helped to confirm my own thoughts.

I had the Space OAR procedure and it was fine, obviously not the most elegant position when they do it but you’re awake and it’s quite quick

One must just lie back and, in my case, think of Scotland. Thanks for for the info LB, I’m reassured.
