Hi all, my husband was diagnosed with Prostrate cancer in March and began hormone treatment. His PSA was 190 and went to 7.6. Then 3 months later it rose to 61. He then woke up with pins and needles in his legs and within 24 hours he could no longer walk or have feelings in his legs. After two weeks in hospital he has come home (unfortunately also testing positive for Covid) we have the rehab team to help me 3/4 times a day and he should receive some physio. He is feeling very down today and what I want to ask is if there is anyone out there that has regained use of their legs after a spinal compression? He begins the chemo hormone drug tomorrow.
The tumours in his spine have received radiotherapy. He also has other bone metatarsals (not sure I have spelt that correctly).
would appreciate any information on this from people that have experienced this
Metastases.
Not speaking for myself, I know that some people have regained function with radiotherapy - but radiotherapy given as as emergency. It is likely that your husband had already had the maximum dose to his spine, in which case further irradiation would not have been possible or beneficial. Was he given steroids?
