Hi, everyone, I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if I get things wrong!
My husband waa diagnosed with bi-lateral prostate cancer in July, gleeson score 4+3=7. He was immediately started on firmagon injections and has had scans on body scan & full body bones scans, he can't have an MRI because he has an icd
The results of the scans are: no obvious spread to the bones, no significant lymph nodes and probably contained to the prostate gland
Because of significant cardiac history, including a previous cardiac arrest, the oncologist has said they can't operate and may not be able to do radiotherapy for the same reason. If that's the case they'll keep him on the firmagon injections, they said the injections will contain it for a good few years, but our copy of letter to GP says they expect his PSA to start rising in 2-3 years!
The oncologist is talking to the cardiologist about treatment options & we have an appt with cardiologist on Friday. Has anyone else had any experience of this or any advice to offer?
Thanks for your reply.
My husband is 65 but if his heart issue is stopping him from having treatment and hes already on firmagon which is the best HT for his heart condition, any idea what else is available that wont impact on his heart condition? His oncologist has said his heart must take priorty.
