Hello, my name is Sandra, I was diagnosed with this rare cancer stage 4, 2 years ago/ I have had 3 chemotherapy treatments, then major surgery, then 3 more chemotherapy treatments, followed by 18 Avastin maintenance treatments. My CA 125 is climbing and I have been told I have some signs of cancer in my lymph nodes (at my last scan & consultation in July 2022.
I ended up with a hernia after the surgery which is getting bigger and bigger over time. I have had a consultation with a general surgeon, who said he wouldn't recommend a repair as it can be too risky. He is in discussion with my oncologist to decide the way forward. I have to take pain killers to relieve the pain and I don't know what to do as my prognosis was 3 to 4 years and that was 2 years ago. I would like a better quality of my remaining year/years. Its a very difficult situation as you are all probably aware.
Regards Sandra
Hi Sandra and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read about the hernia that's developed after your surgery and I hope the surgeon and your oncologist can find a way to deal with this for you.
I don't have any experience with a hernia so I've searched the group and found that Divingisfun has posted about having developed one after surgery. I've 'tagged' them into my reply to you in the hope that they'll pop on and share their experience with you.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Sending a virtual (((hug)))
