Hi I have primary peritoneal high grade cancer, had my first lot of chemotherapy, would love to chat
Hi Barnard and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with peritoneal cancer. I don't have the same type of cancer as you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily spotted.
It might also help if you changed the post heading to something like 'would like to chat about new diagnosis' or 'would like to chat about chemotherapy'.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi Barnard, I was diagnosed with the same as you last September. I have completed my 6 rounds of chemotherapy and don't think my side effects were too bad. After my 3rd chemo I had an operation to remove as much as they could. It transpired I also had a growth outside the peritoneum so am now going through a treatment to stop the blood vessels from feeding any new growths. This is every 3 weeks for 12 months so hope it does some good. I hope your treatments go well and wish you all the best.

Hello Elaine,
I have the same cancer as you but I have just finished 6 months of chemotherapy. I only had carboplatin and found it not too bad. There was no hair loss and very little nausea. The worst thing was the constipation which l learned to cope with eventually partly through diet and partly by taking Docusate sodium. The other thing was the tiredness. I felt utterly drained, especially the first couple of weeks after each treatment. My scan now shows that the cancer has stopped growing which is as much as l can expect at my age. (I will be 80 in couple of weeks). I was given the choice of having the other two drugs or not and l decided that my quality of life was just as important. l have finished the treatment now and only have to go back when l start to get more symptoms. I realise that this is something that l must live with now and that most likely will be dependent on the oncologists to do their bit again when they need to. So I’m having a big family party next month to celebrate my birthday, and who knows-l might even be around for another next year. None of us knows what’s round the corner so we just have to get on and live our lives while we can.
Best wishes to you with your treatment.
It’s good to chat.

Thankyou for your lovely message,I'm so happy for you that it's stopped growing. You sound a very lovely positive lady and I really hope you have a wonderful birthday The fatigue is bad,I do alot of sleeping and I'm 68,it is a weird, quite rare cancer we have! I wish you all the best x keep positive and keep strong x️
What a lovely, positive message. I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Yes the fatigue is the worst, I imagine that because we are in the higher age bracket we can expect to feel tired more easily. All the positive energy you seem to give out will help you get through it all. xx
Hi Elaine,
Good luck with your next treatment on Monday. I was interested to read that you are having Avastin with your other drugs. The new treatment I am having is Avastin, I was only offered this at my last Chemo treatment. I had my second dose last Wednesday and have minor side effects. After the one with my chemo I didn't feel very good for a couple of weeks so am not surprised you are having a lot of side effects. Hopefully as your treatment continues your body will cope with it better.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts and hugs.
Hi Elizabeth Thankyou for your kind words, yes it is quite a chemo cocktail I'm having,I'm hoping my body gets used to it too
