Diagnosed with pertinal cancer

I am sorry that you have not yet had a reply to your post but by me responding it should help bump your post. Hopefully someone who is going through chemo for peritoneal cancer will see it and be able to share some support. 

My own cancer was endometrial so began in my womb but I also went through chemo in 2022. I believe that the chemo I had would likely be the one you are having. Carboplatin and Paclitaxel?

I hope that your first cycle has gone ok and that you are not having too many side effects. I know that chemo is not an easy thing to go through but I found that once the first one was done and I knew what to expect, it did get easier. 

I found that although I did have some side effects, many of them could be helped with medication. If you do have any concerns or are dealing with side effects, then do give your hospital 24 hour number a call. I found mine were really helpful. 

I found with each cycle the effects followed a pattern but the fatigue did build up as each one progressed. Lots of rest was needed. 

I wish you well with your treatment and if there is anything you need, please do ask. We also have the Macmillan Support Line available from 8am-8pm daily- if you feel like talking things through would help.

I had the same chemo as you but still feel fatigued which is very annoying as other wise besides anxiety I feel ok physically.

They are adding in avastin next cycle which also makes me feel a bit anxious too

Hopefully I will be able to speak to some others too going through this

Hi Kathrynb, I was diagnosed with stage 4 secondary peritoneal cancer in Jan 26

I finished my treatment, which was 6 cycles of Carboplatin, Paclitaxel and avastin, 5 weeks ago. I did have a reaction twice to ghe paclitaxel,  so on the 4th cycle the moved me over to nab-paclitaxel. 

I did suffer with fatigue, but had not sickness and only stomach issues a few times. I did also loose my hair after the first treatment, but I have coped with this, and it's starting to grown back.

I don't mind answering any questions.

Do you have primary or secondary cancer? How are you after the first cycle,? Xx

Hello , they say it's primary as no mass found else where?

I have felt so tired and anxious of course too

What type of reaction did you have? That is what scares 

I'm not sure what plaxitcaxal I'm on and didn't know there were two types?

I did wear the cool cap but will see if it saves any or not ?

It's ok if not as it will grew back.

Is yours primary?

 Its so good they havent found any other mass.

It's natural to feel anxious, but hopefully speaking with others about it will help. The fatigue is hard, so take help when it's offered if you need it

I was always at my worse about 5 days after treatment for abiut 3-4days, then. It did seem to follow the same pattern every time, so just tried to work round that as much as I could.

They reaction was during treatment and was extremely bad back pain, chest pain an shortness of breath. It was scary at the time, but they were so quick to react, as they are prepared for it.  I'm not sure what it was they gave me but it stopped the reaction and I was OK after about 5/10mins. They did give me tablets to take before the next cycles, but because I had a reaction again they switched me to the  nab-paclitaxel. It seems like they start on paclitaxel, then move to nab-paclitaxel if you have a reaction.

I'm getting there now, it will just take time to get back to full strength.

I hope you next cycle goes OK. You will be fine and the experts are with you. If you fo have any concerns and worries while having treatment ask them as I'm sure they'd want you to be reassured.

I felt fine the day after treatment then I ve been tired until today , head is still fuzzy but I expect this
