I have recently been diagnosed with peritoneal cancer. I had a biopsy done this week and am waiting for the results to be presented at the multi disciplinary meeting. I’m finding the waiting very hard to deal with and can’t wait to get on with the treatment. I first went to the doctor in August and it seems to be taking for ever although l know that things are happening behind the scenes.

  • Hi, I have recently been diagnosed myself. Waiting for my biopsy results also but due to go for an appointment tomorrow So I am hoping to find out more then.

The waiting is the hardest part I find. I’ve been told I’ll need debulking surgery first then chemo.

can I ask how you got diagnosed? Did you go to your GP with symptoms.

    sending positive vibes your way.

  • Hi Sophie, nice to hear from you. Yes, l went to my GP with vague pains in my abdomen. The blood test showed the marker for the ovaries so she sent me for an ultrasound and referred me to the gynaecologist. The ultrasound showed nothing abnormal so he sent me for a CT scan which gave me the diagnosis. I am on the agenda for next week’s multidisciplinary team meeting when they will have the results of the biopsy so will decide on treatment then.

l agree that this waiting is very hard but l have been assured that things are going on quietly in the background so we just have to grin and bear it.

l will be thinking about you today and sending love and positive thoughts for your appointment. Hope it all goes well.

  • Hi, ah I see. Well I hope your results are as good as they can be and a treatment plan will make you feel much better.

my appointment was ok, I have major surgery planned for 11th November to have full hysterectomy, omentectomy, and some other bits and bobs to remove all of the cancer. I’ll then be given chemo. My cancer is low grade so it doesn’t react as well to chemo but can be managed in other ways to help and try to fend of a recurrence for as long as possible. X

  • Wow, that’s a big operation. I hope it all goes well for you. Are you in the UK? There are some on this forum from overseas and don’t have the benefit of our NHS.
