I have had 7 sessions of Chemo,. The main physical side effect has been numbness in the feet and to a lesser extent to the fingers. I use a hand held cordless massager, also some cooling gel, this helps a lot. Does anyone have any further ideas on how to reduce the numbness?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

Numbness in your feet and fingers can't be pleasant but I'm glad to hear you are getting some relief.

I'm sorry that I don't have any experience of this to share with you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. By responding to you it will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll hopefully be spotted by someone with the right experience.

If you don't get any replies you could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community which I can see you've used before. The specialist nurses will aim to reply within 3 working days.

You could also type 'numbness' or the name of the chemotherapy you're having in the search bar at the top of the page to look for previous posts within this group on these subjects.

While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

I have experienced the same after my Chemo and my oncologist prescribed me pregablin however 4 months in and I’m not sure if it is helping and I’ve just got used to it.
I’ve been advised it can take up to 12 months before this subsides, how long have you had it?

    Hi Shabs,

    Thanks for the post!

I think after the 4th Chemo, its like you said you get used to it, like Tinnitus, I've had since attending loud rock concerts. Not sure what pregabin is, will check it out. For the last 3 months I take stuff for my tinnitus, Tubonin, not sure if it helps, problem is would it have been worse if I had not taken it Slight smile

For the feet I also use a very cold gel, make it more comfortable .
