Has anyone had a PPC diagnosis with a normal CA125? Have had severe bloating of abdomen for 6 weeks with lower back/hip pain/aching, bouts of diarrhea and general feeling of unwell. Have had complete gastro work-up along with all food allergy work-ups and all are negative. I had a radical hysterectomy in 2006. Mother and maternal grandmother passed away from ovarian cancer and father passed away from colo-rectal cancer. CT shows no mass or fluid. I have a transvaginal ultrasound scheduled in 2 two weeks but am calling the doctor to see if I can have that moved up. Am very worried and concerned with the time it is taking to get a diagnosis. I pray that my condition is not PPC but the OBGYN said that if i had my ovaries and presented with these symptoms the first thought would be ovarian cancer. Any info on diagnosis experience would be greatly welcomed.
Hi and welcome to the online community
It's natural to be worried when you're waiting for tests and scans to find out what may be wrong when you have unexplained symptoms. Worrying that the cancer will have grown during this time is normal but most cancers usually grow slowly so waiting a few weeks for a scan or treatment does not usually affect how well the treatment works.
You haven't said when you first went to your GP with your symptoms clicking here will take you to information on waiting times when you're referred for suspected cancer. You will see that it says that sometimes you may have to wait a while for tests depending on how many other people are always waiting for certain scans. When you go for your scan ask the specialist roughly how long you should have to wait for your results. Then, if you haven't heard in the specified time, you can ring you consultant's secretary to see if the results have been received.
You'll probably feel anxious while waiting for your results, I know I was, so this information on how to ease worry when waiting for medical results might give you some coping strategies.
Edit - sorry, I meant to include this link to primary peritoneal cancer symptoms for you.
Do come back and let everyone know how you get on with your upcoming scan.
