We are both still so young me(27), girlfriend(21) we have been together 3 years and I’m going to die at some point in the next few months or years not  really been given an estimate yet..

Me dying is the easy bit, she has to be left alone to grieve and move on. I’d rather not die and beat the cancer but it just doesn’t seem possible. I’ve had radiation and chemo and I don’t really think they’ve worked.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you have been diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer which has spread to your peritoneum but you sound like a very caring person.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting a couple of groups for you to join. The first is the bowel cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences about this type of cancer and it's treatment.

The second group is the living with incurable cancer group, which is specifically for people with an incurable or terminal diagnosis. Whatever you need to discuss, eg. making the most of your life, or how your diagnosis might affect your girlfriend, you can discuss your feelings openly there.

To join these groups, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
