Hello everyone,

following prolonged and heavy bleeding my go has referred me for an internal ultrasound which will be on 28th March and hysteroscopy on 24th April, I’ve had a womb biopsy recently.

I have a lot of pressure in the pelvic area and constant pain and a heaviness.

My question is when I have the scan I know the ovaries, womb and so on will be looked at but how are people tested for peritoneal abnormalities? Is that a separate test? I apologise for my ignorance but I just want to be certain of how things are checked and not missed.

wishing everyone a lovely weekend and take care xxxx

  • Hi

Waiting for scans and tests is a very worrying time and wanting to know what will be checked is perfectly normal.

I'm sorry to see that nobody has been able to answer your question but I noticed that you had also posted this in ask a nurse and I'm sure that one of the specialist cancer nurses will reply soon.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Hi,

I had the same feelings as you before being diagnosed. The scan will let the radiologist see any mass or body in your abdominal area -including the peritoneum. Through the scan my gynecologist was sure that there was a mass located close to my ovaries and that it did not belong to or started from any of my organs. After seeing that in the scan, my gynecologist prepared me for a punction and extracted part of this mass to do a biopsy. And with that she confirmed I had PPC.

I wish the pain you have relates to something else and that you don't have PPC. If not, I wish you all the best in your treatment, and please talk to me anytime. I finish my chemo cycles in December and then I will have the surgery. I wish you a nice afternoon.
